Photoshop Templates for Making Prints

$5.00

Tired of manually adding the white space to make prints of your artwork with Photoshop? Then download these Photoshop templates for making prints with ease!

Description

No need to manually make the white space on your prints, if you’re using Photoshop. Now you can download these Photoshop templates for making prints. Just embed and resize your photo behind the frame where you can see exactly what kind of cropping will give you the best image of your artwork.

More sizes and layouts for printing will be added as I get time. These are individual prints that you can send to third party printers or print singly on your own printer at home. These templates will not color correct or do any other editing at all, however. The images you add to the frames should be edited before.

5 x 7" print layout template - Photoshop templates for making prints.

Template Features

  • 300 dpi
  • RGB color
  • 1/4″ or 1/2″ white borders
  • landscape and portrait orientation for each size
  • use template over and over
  • Dropbox file, and emailed attachments after order completes

When you place your order for any of these Photoshop templates for making prints, you’ll receive an email with the links to download. These files will be hosted at Dropbox, so you’ll need a free Dropbox account if you don’t have one. However, when I see your order come through, I’ll send you an email with the files attached. So no worries if you don’t have or don’t want a Dropbox account.

Instructions for Using

First of all, save your templates on your computer in a folder somewhere you can find them again the next time you want to use one.
Always use images that are ready for print-making. This means they should be edited for color and proportions corrected to the actual painting’s proportions. And, this file should be saved at 300 dpi, for the best printing results. You *can* use an image straight from your phone, but the end result won’t be as nice as if you had color-corrected and edited for skew and lens distortion. (See bottom paragraph if you’d like to hire me to do your initial editing or set up your prints).

1. Open Photoshop
2. File > Choose layout desired from your saved files > the layout template should be on your screen now
3. File > Place Embedded > choose the edited file of the image you want to make a print of > the image should now be on your screen but perhaps not fitting the template
4. Drag the image layer below the template layer
5. Click the image layer so that you’re working only with that
6. Resize the image to fit inside the frame in the way you want
7. Save the file with a new name to reflect the print you’ve made

Now you have a print-ready file of a specific size with borders you’ve chosen. If you are using an image that is a different size than the print size, you’ll need to stretch or shrink to resize it the way you want. Sometimes, for example, I’ll choose a landscape 5 x 7, and use an 8 x 10 edited image to fill the template. I will stretch the image to fill the space featuring the part of the painting I want to make a 5 x 7 print of.

Want Me to Do the Layout or/and Edits?

I offer Photoshop editing services for artists. The price is $50/hr with a 1 hour minimum. If you decide you’d rather me do the layout and send you back a print-ready file, then email me at madison@wildozark.com. Without seeing your original, I can’t give an accurate color correction, but I can take your phone or camera image and at least give the proportions to it that the original painting has. If you take the photo with something perfectly white in the background, I can color correct using that (but it still may not be perfect). If you are local to NWA and want to bring me the original and pick it up once I’ve color corrected, or wait while I do so, you’re welcome to do that too. I don’t accept shipped artwork because of the liability involved with that.
